Spring in a Cup

At our last meeting the Green LIONS Garden Group celebrated the first signs of spring by planting herb seeds to start herb gardens in our homes. We planted basil, parsley, dill and cilantro seeds. This is a wonderful way for the students to bring the garden group lessons into their homes to share with their families. Even if a student doesn’t have a spot outside to transfer the seedlings once they’re bigger, the herb plants will grow happily inside in pots, ready to be used in cooking. We used Farmer John’s own organic potting soil, http://newearthfarm.org/New_Earth_Farm/Welcome.html ,  and High Mowing Seeds organic seeds, http://www.highmowingseeds.com/ .

We also received t-shirts through our generous sponsors Clay and Deedra Dills of Dills Artichects, http://www.dillsarchitects.com/ . It is parents like these who make programs like ours possible. A big thanks to all of our parent helpers, and look how great the shirts look!
